Imphal Airport to Get New Baggage Handling System; AAI Issues Tender

Imphal: The Airports Authority of India has invited bids for installing a modern Baggage Handling System (BHS) at Imphal International Airport as part of its new integrated terminal project.
The total estimated cost of the project is ₹13.5 crore (excluding GST). This includes around ₹6.81 crore for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning (SITC) of the system, and about ₹6.71 crore for long-term operation and maintenance.
As per the tender, the installation work is to be completed within six months. The contract also includes a 10-year operation period and an eight-year comprehensive maintenance agreement after the defect liability phase.
The proposed system will include conveyors, arrival carousels, and automated control systems to ensure smooth baggage handling for passengers.
The tender process will be conducted online through the Central Public Procurement portal, and participation is limited to Class-I and Class-II local suppliers under the Make in India policy. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for April 17, 2026, in New Delhi. The last date for submission of bids is May 8, 2026, while technical bids will be opened on May 12.
The project is aimed at improving passenger convenience and handling increased traffic at the airport. DeshBharat
