New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has approved the extension of Train Nos. 12789/12790 Kacheguda–Murdeswar Express up to Kumta, providing enhanced rail connectivity along the Konkan region.
As per a communication issued by the Railway Board, the proposal submitted by Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) has been cleared, allowing the existing service between Kacheguda and Murdeswar to be extended further to Kumta.
Following the extension, Train No. 12789 will operate as the Kacheguda–Kumta Express, while Train No. 12790 will run as the Kumta–Kacheguda Express. The revised service will include Kumta as the new terminal point beyond Murdeswar.
The schedule indicates that the train departing from Kacheguda at 06:05 will reach Kumta at 14:30. In the return direction, the train will depart from Kumta at 15:10 and arrive at Kacheguda at 23:40. Existing stoppages, including Thokur and Murdeswar, will continue to be part of the route with minor timing adjustments.
The Railway Board has instructed concerned zones, including South Central Railway and Southern Railway, along with KRCL, to implement the extension at the earliest feasible date. If required, an inaugural run may be operated as a special service before regular operations commence.
Authorities have also been directed to ensure wide publicity and timely compliance, terming the matter as “most urgent.” DeshBharat
