Jaipur’s Key NH-48 Junction Set for ₹130 Cr Traffic Decongestion Overhaul
March 28, 2026
Jaipur: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded a ₹130.65 crore contract for the construction of underpasses and flyovers at the busy Jaipur Bypass junction on the Delhi–Jaipur–Ajmer stretch of NH-48 in Rajasthan. The project has been entrusted to Maruti Infracreation Pvt. Ltd. under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model.
The 200-feet-wide junction is one of Jaipur’s most congested traffic nodes, connecting intercity highway traffic with key residential and commercial areas such as Mansarovar, Shyam Nagar and Vaishali Nagar. The heavy overlap of local and highway vehicles currently leads to frequent bottlenecks and delays.
To address this, the project will develop two dedicated underpasses, one each for Delhi-to-Mansarovar and Mansarovar-to-Delhi traffic, along with two flyovers to streamline movement between Jaipur, Ajmer and Delhi. The grade-separated design aims to segregate through traffic from local flows, ensuring smoother and safer transit.
At present, vehicles must navigate multiple signal crossings at the junction, resulting in longer travel times and higher fuel consumption. The planned infrastructure upgrade is expected to significantly reduce congestion, cut waiting time and improve overall traffic efficiency.
Once completed, the project will enhance commuter safety, reduce fuel wastage and strengthen connectivity along the crucial NH-48 corridor, marking a key step in improving urban mobility in Jaipur. DeshBharat
