NCR Transit Network to Expand with 64-km Namo Bharat Corridor
February 25, 2026
Chandigarh: In a major step toward strengthening regional connectivity in the National Capital Region (NCR), the Haryana government has approved the final alignment of the 64-kilometre Namo Bharat RRTS-cum-Metro corridor. The project aims to establish seamless transit connectivity between key economic hubs — Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida and Greater Noida.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini made the announcement during a session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha. He stated that the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has been directed to finalise the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Key Project Details
Of the total 64 km corridor, nearly 52 km will fall within Haryana. The integrated RRTS and Metro project is designed to strengthen the NCR’s transit network by offering a high-speed travel alternative, thereby reducing traffic congestion and lowering environmental impact.
Gurugram Segment:
A 14.5 km integrated RRTS-Metro stretch is proposed from IFFCO Chowk to Gwal Pahari. Key stations will include Sector-29, Millennium City Centre, Sector-52, Wazirabad, Sector-57, and Sector-58/61. The corridor will provide multi-modal connectivity through integration with the Delhi Metro Yellow Line, the Gurugram Metro corridor, and the Rapid Metro network.
Faridabad Segment:
A 16 km integrated stretch has been approved from Sainik Colony to Badshahpur. The route will pass through prominent areas including the NIT area, Bata Chowk, Sectors 12 to 15, and New Faridabad. It will also connect directly with the Delhi Metro’s Violet Line.
Economic and Urban Impact
Chief Minister Saini described the corridor as a transformative initiative aimed at integrating major economic centres across the NCR. In addition to reducing travel time, the project is expected to:
-
Boost investment and generate employment opportunities
-
Promote balanced urban development
-
Provide safe, modern, and efficient public transportation for a growing population
The project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Namo Bharat vision, which focuses on connecting economic centres through world-class public transport infrastructure.
With the alignment now approved, the project will proceed toward finalisation of the Detailed Project Report, marking the next phase of its implementation. DeshBharat
