New ₹368 Crore South-East Bypass to Boost Azamgarh Connectivity

Azamgarh: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded the contract for constructing a 15-km-long four-lane South–East Bypass around Azamgarh city in Uttar Pradesh. The project has been assigned to M/s Kaluwala Construction Private Limited at a cost of ₹368.85 crore under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model.
The bypass will begin near Rani-Ka-Sarai village and extend up to the Purvanchal Expressway, completing a crucial segment of Azamgarh’s ring road network. It is expected to ease traffic congestion within the city and improve overall regional mobility.
The project scope includes a flyover, a railway overbridge (RoB), two interchanges, two vehicular underpasses (VUPs), eight light vehicular underpasses (LVUPs), three minor bridges, and extensive service roads spanning 11.6 km and 9 km on either side. Additionally, a 7.5-km slip road will be developed.
Upon completion, the bypass is set to enhance connectivity, reduce travel time and logistics costs, and contribute to safer and more efficient transportation, supporting economic growth in the region. DeshBharat
