NHAI Plans 230-km Four-Lane Greenfield Corridor in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated the process for a major highway project in Tamil Nadu by inviting bids for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a proposed four-lane greenfield highway connecting Trichy, Karur and Coimbatore, along with the development of a Northern Trichy Bypass.

According to the tender notice issued by NHAI, the proposed project has a total tentative length of about 230 kilometres and will be taken up in Tamil Nadu. The authority has invited consultancy services for preparation of the DPR through international competitive bidding.

The project involves four-laning of the Trichy–Karur–Coimbatore greenfield corridor and construction of the Northern Trichy Bypass, which will be finalised after completion of surveys, alignment studies and technical assessment during the DPR stage.

The tender document states that the DPR consultant will carry out traffic studies, alignment planning, technical investigations and other required surveys before finalisation of the project proposal.

The RFP for the consultancy work was issued on March 14, 2026, and bids have been invited through the e-tender portal of NHAI. The proposal submission deadline has been fixed for April 27, 2026.

Once the DPR is completed and approved, the project will move to the next stage of planning and execution. DeshBharat
