Kanpur to Get ₹988.30 Crore 4-Lane Elevated Corridor on Old NH-91

Kanpur: In a major infrastructure push, approval has been granted for the construction of a 4-lane elevated corridor from Ramadevi to Gol Chauraha on the old National Highway-91 in Kanpur district. The project will be developed at an estimated cost of ₹988.30 crore.

As per the announcement made by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, the proposed elevated road will span 10.160 kilometres and aims to significantly ease traffic congestion along one of the city’s busiest stretches. Notably, the corridor currently has 16 railway crossings, which frequently lead to severe traffic jams and long delays for commuters.

By allowing uninterrupted movement of vehicles through the elevated structure, the project is expected to reduce congestion at key urban junctions and decongest the old NH-91 route. Authorities believe the corridor will not only cut down travel time for daily commuters but also enhance overall road safety in Kanpur’s urban areas.

The project is expected to bring substantial relief to residents and motorists who regularly face bottlenecks on this stretch. DeshBharat
