Six-lane elevated corridor planned along Yamuna to boost connectivity to Noida International Airport
February 17, 2026
Noida: A 23-km-long elevated road is likely be constructed along the embankment of the Yamuna to provide improved connectivity to the upcoming Noida International Airport. The project will be executed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) after receiving approval from the Noida Authority board.
UPEIDA will now seek a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department. The cost of the project will be shared by the Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority, and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). Once completed, the elevated corridor is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway.
The proposed six-lane elevated road was initially suggested to be constructed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), but a final decision was taken in a meeting of the board and senior officials to assign the project to UPEIDA.
According to officials, the Noida Authority will bear the largest share of the project cost. The elevated expressway will run from Okhla Barrage along the Yamuna and the Harnandi river stretch to the Yamuna Expressway, providing direct connectivity from Delhi to Noida International Airport.
Noida Authority CEO Krishna Karunesh stated that once the elevated road becomes operational, traffic heading towards Delhi, Haryana, Greater Noida, the Yamuna Expressway, and other cities will be able to bypass Noida city limits and move directly onto the expressway. This is expected to ease future traffic movement to and from Noida International Airport and improve connectivity for travellers heading towards Agra and Lucknow. DeshGujarat
